Underwriting (Insurance & Superannuation)

The incumbent is responsible for processing proposals and ensuring complete preparation of policies in line with the company's laid down policies. They direct/monitor the day-to-day operations of the Underwriting toward maximum efficiency to support the Company goals by meeting and exceeding expectations on Underwriting processes and customer service delivery.
Job Responsibilities:
Underwrite and assess risks of medical and non-medical proposals up to the authority given (Individual Life, Group & Banca, and Internet Insurance).
Oversee departmental compliance, audit, risk-related matters, ensuring processes align with company and industry standards.
Handle treaty-related administrative matters such as record keeping, filing, or verification with re-insurers, Product, and Pricing team.
Assist with underwriting inquiries, special escalations, and appeal cases as needed.
Manage daily operations of the team by monitoring agreed service levels and quality checks on work presentation.
Deploy available resources and control workflow within the section to ensure high quality service levels.
Provide appropriate advice and guidance to subordinates in underwriting risks and improving work output.
Continuously review underwriting rules and processes to uphold team efficiency.
Recognize and determine trends in problem occurrences or process workflows.
Support Superior in reviewing processes, identifying, and resolving service gaps through constructive feedback and implementing improvements where appropriate.
Stay updated on new or enhanced products/underwriting knowledge to maintain a high level of quality service to customers.
Monitor closely the achievement of Key Results Areas set for the department and ensure timely implementation of action plans on assigned tasks.
Participate in departmental system enhancements and product development.
Communicate continuously with the team and lead towards company goals.
Undertake other work/duties/ad-hoc projects as required.
Job Requirements:
Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree, Post Graduate Diploma, Professional Degree, in any field.
At least 5 years of working experience in the related field is required for this position.
Preferably specializing in Life Insurance underwriting with underwriting authority.
