Job Overview
Smartli is seeking a Senior Unity 2D Game Developer to lead the development of immersive educational MMORPGs.
This role involves designing and implementing engaging game features, integrating backend services, and ensuring seamless gameplay across platforms.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned professional with a strong track record in publishing MMORPGs and a passion for creating transformative gaming experiences.
You will play a critical role in driving the game's features and functionality, participating in the full development cycle of new technologies, and supporting and optimizing existing systems.
Key Responsibilities
Game Development : Design, implement, and maintain high-quality 2D MMORPG features using Unity.
Backend Integration : Implement robust server-side functionalities, including user management, real-time multiplayer systems, persistent data storage, matchmaking, leaderboards, or analytics.
Educational Design Integration : Collaborate closely with educators, designers, and artists to transform curriculum goals into engaging gameplay mechanics.
Troubleshooting : Identify, debug, and resolve issues in existing games to improve performance and user experience.
Code Quality : Write clean, maintainable, and scalable code.
Conduct regular code reviews to uphold high coding standards.
Prototyping : Create prototypes to test and iterate on new educational concepts and gameplay mechanics.
Performance Optimization : Address performance bottlenecks across both frontend and backend systems, implementing effective solutions.
Publishing Management : Oversee the publishing process for MMORPGs on iOS, Android, and web platforms, ensuring compliance with app store guidelines.
Mentorship : Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers, promoting best practices and fostering professional growth as the team grows.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Education : Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Game Development, or a related field.
Experience : 5+ years of game development experience with a focus on Unity 2D and MMORPG systems.
Programming Expertise : Proficiency in C# with a strong understanding of object-oriented programming.
Backend Knowledge : Familiarity with Nakama for backend services is highly desirable.
Backend integrations such as chat systems, player inventories, leaderboard, etc.
MMORPG Development : Proven experience developing and publishing complex MMORPG systems, including quest mechanics, character progression, and real-time multiplayer interactions.
Cross-Platform Development : Experience building games for mobile (iOS/Android) and web platforms.
Database Management : SQL proficiency is a plus, particularly for data-driven game features.
Version Control : Proficiency in Git or similar version control systems.
Publishing Expertise : Experience successfully publishing games on multiple platforms, adhering to app store requirements.
Troubleshooting : Strong skills in debugging tools and methodologies to identify and resolve game issues efficiently.
