Job Summary:We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Manager/Manager for our Solar PV System Design & Engineering Department.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in solar energy system design, project management, and team leadership, with a focus on developing efficient, innovative solar PV systems for residential, commercial, and industrial applications.
The role will involve managing the design team and collaborating with multiple departments to ensure high-quality, compliant, and timely system designs.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Team Management:Lead the design team, overseeing daily operations to ensure the high-quality and timely delivery of solar PV system designs.
Provide mentorship, technical guidance, and performance management for the design engineers and drafters.Develop and review detailed solar PV system designs, including electrical schematics, site plans, mechanical layouts, and other technical drawings for residential, commercial, and utility-scale projects.
Perform engineering calculations, system simulation, and optimization using design software such as AutoCAD, PVSyst, and Helioscope.
Ensure all designs adhere to client requirements, project specifications, industry standards, and local regulations (e.g., NEC requirements, SEDA, and Suruhanjaya Tenaga).
Electrical Power Systems:Possess in-depth knowledge of both low and medium voltage electrical power systems, ensuring safe and efficient system designs.
Safety and Compliance:Implement and adhere to local safety standards and regulations for solar PV installations.
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs):Develop and implement SOPs to enhance the operational efficiency of the design department.
Energy Production Analysis:Conduct thorough energy production analysis and system optimization to meet project performance targets.
Cost Estimation:Provide accurate cost estimation and budget management for all solar PV projects.
Project Coordination and Technical Support:Work closely with the project management, procurement, and installation teams to ensure designs are feasible and meet project timelines.
Assist in technical discussions during pre-sales activities, offering technical input on feasibility, cost estimation, and system performance.
Provide on-site technical support during installation, testing, and commissioning phases as required.Compliance and Standardization:Ensure all designs comply with local and international industry standards, building codes, and regulations, including SEDA (Malaysia), Suruhanjaya Tenaga, and other authorities.
Lead the submission of documentation for regulatory approvals and liaison with relevant authorities.Continuous Improvement and Innovation:Stay updated on the latest solar PV technologies, software, and design tools, implementing new strategies to enhance system performance and design efficiency.
Drive continuous process improvements within the design department, optimizing workflows, and implementing design best practices.Cost and Resource Management:Evaluate the economic feasibility of design solutions, ensuring cost-effective use of materials and equipment while meeting technical performance standards.
Prepare and review bills of materials (BOM) for each project to support procurement and ensure efficient resource utilization.Vendor and Client Relations:Engage with suppliers to ensure the technical specifications of purchased equipment meet project requirements.
Communicate with clients and stakeholders to understand their needs, propose customized solar PV solutions, and address any design-related concerns.Documentation and Reporting:Lead the creation and updating of as-built drawings with input from the project team.
Ensure proper documentation of designs, calculations, and revisions for future reference and project handover.Qualifications:
Education:A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or related field.
An advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., GCPV/OGPV certification by SEDA) is a plus.
Experience:Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in solar PV system design, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
Technical Skills:Proficiency in AutoCAD, PVSyst, and other relevant design software.
Strong understanding of solar PV system components, electrical engineering principles, and industry standards.
Project Management:Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, ensuring timely completion while maintaining high-quality standards.
Communication Skills:Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to explain complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Additional Requirements:
Willingness to travel to project sites across Malaysia as required.
Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage a team under tight project timelines.
