Responsibilities:
To assist the Core Compliance Team leader and the CCO in developing and establishing policies, strategies, and improvement plans to mitigate compliance risk issues and manage compliance activities effectively to meet regulations, directives, and laws from external regulators in Malaysia, Japan, and other countries impacting MUFG Bank (Malaysia) Berhad and MUFG Bank (Labuan Branch).
To review and conduct gap analysis for local regulations issued by Bank Negara Malaysia or Labuan Financial Services Authority, including Policy Documents (PD) and Exposure Drafts (ED).
To collaborate with business/products/support units to develop action plans for control processes in addressing regulatory requirements based on gap analysis conducted.
To develop recommendations for continuous improvement and support implementation, including corrective actions for violations of laws, regulations, or the Banks' Compliance Manual.
To engage and communicate with BNM/LFSA to detect compliance issues and ensure compliance with requirements.
To provide high-quality regulatory advisory services to Business Units regarding local regulatory requirements, including foreign exchange requirements, PDPA, and banking secrecy provisions.
To assess, report, and investigate regulatory breach incidents, including follow-up for action plan closure.
To perform ad hoc reviews based on risk areas and thematic reviews pertaining to local laws and regulations.
Requirements:
Applicant must have a recognized Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Law, or its equivalent from a recognized university/higher learning institution.
Candidates with Compliance Certification are highly preferred.
Good communication skills with the ability to influence others and build rapport with local and external regulatory bodies.
Strong knowledge of the banking regulatory environment and regulations, with a deep understanding of industry trends, products, and relevant laws.
Strong stakeholder management skills to collaborate with other departments.
Excellent written and oral communication skills in dealing with employees or external customers/clients.
Minimum 6-8 years of relevant experience in risk management; additional experience in related fields will be considered an advantage.
