What a typical day looks like:
Coordinates activities involved with procuring direct materials, components and equipment.
Maintains relations with suppliers.
Places orders for necessary raw materials and purchased parts according to the requirements of the production.
Receives and handles confirmations.
Checks the purchase orders and modifies them according to the changes in the production plan with the help of the Shortage List and the Open Purchase Order List.
Tracks shipments, urging them if needed.
Regularly checks stocks to avoid overstock.
Minimizes the risk of obsolescence with the help of the weekly check of the obsolete report.
Corresponds with freight forwarders, warehouses, and organizes transportation if needed.
Deals with claims, settling debit and credit issues.
Files and records all necessary documents.
Checks the inventory of critical materials (personally if needed) according to the Shortage List.
Contacts the right warehouse personnel to modify any inventory discrepancies.
Assures all active components according to production needs, in time, for the agreed price in the request.
Reviews requisitions and MRP output.
Confers with vendors to obtain product information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
Orders, reschedules, and cancels material based on requisitions and MRP output.
Maintains procurement records such as items purchased, costs, delivery, and inventories.
Manages supplier to meet price, delivery, and quality expectations and escalates when appropriate.
Approves invoices for payment.
Investigates inventory levels.
Monitors the movement of materials through the production cycle.
Maintains procurement records, reports, and metrics.
The experience we're looking for:
Possesses a degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience.
Minimum 3 years of working experience in the related field is required.
Skill(s) Required: Direct Material Purchase, Material Requirement Planning.
