Construction Lawyer (Australian Consultancy)We are seeking an experienced construction lawyer with a minimum of ten years of experience in construction law and exposure to administering construction contracts, particularly in the preparation, assessment, and settlement of contentious contract claims.
The candidate will take a hands-on approach to solving our clients' problems and communicating those solutions in a clear and concise manner.
You will be exposed to a broad range of interesting and challenging work, dealing with complex claims and disputes for companies operating in the construction and infrastructure space.
Your role will see you:
Developing claims and disputes strategies to meet client objectives;
Undertaking forensic reviews of project records to prepare key information summaries, chronologies of events, etc.
;
Managing and preparing construction claims including variations, extensions of time, disruption claims, acceleration claims and the like, including performing technical analysis, gathering evidence, and drafting technical submissions;
Writing up basis of claim arguments and establishing contract entitlement;
Drafting contractual correspondence and providing contract administration advice;
Working with client project teams and other professionals.
The role provides a unique and rare opportunity to develop yourself as an independent construction consultant and move away from head office/corporate work.
You will report directly to our Director of Expert Services, who is a seasoned construction management and claims professional with over 30 years of experience in Hard Dollar Contracting in Australia, including over 15 years as a professional contract services and claims consultant.
You will work with highly experienced and well-regarded industry experts in an exciting and dynamic sector of the construction and infrastructure market.

In addition, you will have:
A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in construction law, with sound experience in contract and claims preparation, entitlement advice, and settlement strategies;
Sound contractual and legal arguments for typical types of construction claims;
A construction law degree;
Excellent letter and report writing skills.
Attributes that are highly regarded, but not essential:
Highly proficient in Word and Excel;
Comprehension of project planning and delay/EOT claims;
Flexibility in the tasks undertaken that can also include marketing, administration, and systems/procedures duties.
The role most suits a construction lawyer who has spent some time working for contractors doing post-contract services work and has made aconscious decision to specialize in contract claims,dispute resolution and even commercial advisory.
