The Role The Content Engineer will be responsible for populating, structuring, and optimising content  for digital platforms, ensuring that it is discoverable, reusable, and adaptable across different  contexts and devices.
This role bridges the gap between content creation and technology, using  structured content management systems and leveraging technologies such as XML, CMS  platforms, and APIs to ensure seamless content delivery.
Key Responsibilities Content structuring: Develop and implement content uploading strategies aligned with business goal and timeline management Conduct keyword research and competitor analysis to identify content opportunities.
Optimise content for search engines (SEO) and user experience.
Technical Implementation: Work with content management systems (CMS) to design workflows, content types,  and templates.
Implement structured content systems using tools like XML, Markdown, or JSON.
Collaborate with developers to integrate content into web applications, ensuring content is API-ready.
Content Management: Manage content lifecycles, version control, and metadata tagging for enhanced searchability.
Define and enforce best practices for content production, ensuring compliance with technical standards (e.g., SEO, accessibility).  Coordinate with various teams (marketing, development, product) to ensure smooth content delivery across platforms.
Automation & Optimization: Identify opportunities for automating content workflows and processes using scripting languages or tools (e.g., Python, JavaScript).
Optimize content for performance, including speed, accessibility, and SEO.
Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with content creators (writers, designers, and subject matter experts) to ensure content is structured appropriately.
Train non-technical staff on the use of content management systems and structured content approaches.
