We are seeking a detail-orientedContracts Specialistwith expertise in EPC contractual interpretation and claims management.
The ideal candidate will bring experience in analyzing contractual terms and managing contractual claims and disputes to resolution, while ensuring alignment with project objectives.
The position involves close collaboration with project teams to drive effective claims resolution and ensure compliance with contractual terms.
This role will require close collaboration with a small, integrated team that will be responsible for reviewing, assessing, validating and managing contractual claims through resolution.
Key Responsibilities:
Claims Assessment:
Analyze and evaluate costs, budgets, contracts and change orders to assess the validity of claims and disputes.
Review and assess claims in accordance with EPC contractual terms, ensuring alignment with industry standards.
Maintain comprehensive documentation for claims, including evidence, status tracking and approvals.
Collaborate with claims management and other project teams to address and resolve complex claims.
Contractual Interpretation and Administration:
Provide expertise in interpreting EPC contract terms, ensuring claims are assessed in accordance with contractual provisions.
Identify cost entitlement and recovery opportunities within contract frameworks.
Support project teams in understanding and applying contractual obligations to mitigate risks and optimize project outcomes.
Monitor contract milestones, deliverables and obligations, ensuring timely execution and adherence to deadlines.
Draft, review and negotiate contracts, agreements and amendments to ensure clarity and alignment with organizational goals.
Assist with reviewing and drafting responses to day-to-day communications with Contractor.
Provide recommendations related to managing and minimizing disputes/claims.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
Work closely with project management, procurement, legal and finance teams to ensure seamless communication on claims-related issues.
Provide training and guidance to internal teams on contract interpretation and claims management best practices.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
Track and report on contract performance metrics, including costs, deliverables and compliance.
Analyze contract data to identify trends, areas for improvement and potential cost-saving opportunities.
Provide regular updates and summaries to management on contract status and key issues.
Process Implementation and Improvement:
Evaluate current claims management and contractual processes, recommending and implementing efficiency enhancements.
Develop and standardize best practices for claims processing, documentation and contractual tracking.
Assist legal teams with the preparation of documentation and presentations for arbitration, mediation or court proceedings.
Provide expert analysis and opinions on claims validity to support dispute resolution efforts.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Law, Contract Management or a related field.
Certification in Contract Management (e.g., IACCM/WorldCC, NCMA) is a plus.
Experience:
3-7 years of experience in contract management, administration or related roles.
Experience in construction, engineering, energy or other project-driven industries is preferred.
Skills:
Strong understanding of contract law, legal terminology and industry practices.
Demonstrated experience in post-award contract management and governance.
Exceptional negotiation and communication skills.
Proficiency in contract management software and tools.
Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
Analytical mindset with the ability to assess risks and propose actionable solutions.
