Environment Safety and Health Officer (SHO)Health, Safety & Environment (Construction)
Responsibilities:Implement and ensure adherence to safety and health policies as developed by senior management.
Continuously monitor workplace activities to ensure compliance with safety regulations and policies.
Regularly inspect the workplace for potential hazards with safety staff personnel.
Identify and report risks and hazards to the Safety and Health Manager or top management.
Provide initial and ongoing safety training for all employees, including new hires and temporary workers.
Conduct regular safety briefings and toolbox talks to reinforce safety practices and update workers on new procedures.
Ensure the workplace adheres to all relevant occupational safety and health regulations.
Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incident reports, training sessions, and compliance documents.
Implement safety and health standards in the workplace in line with good practices.
Collect, analyze, and maintain statistics on any loss time incidents, accidents, dangerous occurrences, occupational poisoning, and diseases or other hazards that have occurred at the workplace.
Engage with employees to gather feedback and suggestions for improving workplace safety.
Monitor and check the effectiveness and efficiency of the safety and health measures in the workplace, including corrective action plans required.
Ensure safety and health standards and practices comply with the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994.
Support the development of OHS policies and programs.
Ensure that all safety equipment is available, properly maintained, and regularly inspected.
Advise and instruct on various safety-related topics (noise, vibration, water & air pollution).
Conduct risk assessments and enforce preventative measures.
Review existing policies and measures and update them according to legislation.
Initiate and organize OHS training of employees and executives.
Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity (e.g. not using protective equipment).
Oversee installations, maintenance, disposal of substances, etc.
Stop any unsafe acts or processes that seem dangerous or unhealthy.
Record and investigate incidents to determine causes and handle worker's compensation claims.
Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to upper management.
Conduct briefing Pre-Task Talk (PTT) every morning before starting work.
Conduct induction briefing registration regarding safety in the workplace.
Requirements:Diploma or Certificate from DOSH's recognized institution.
Registered SHO with DOSH (valid green book).
5 years' experience in the construction industry (Data Centre and Factories added advantage).
Pleasant personality with strong communication skills.
