*Exclusive Role* Legal Counsel, EPC/Construction (min 5 PQE) – Data Centre Operator & DeveloperCompany Overview:
Join our client, a leading data centre developer and operator at the forefront of digital infrastructure development in the region.
We are expanding our legal team and seeking a dedicated and highly skilledLegal Counselto support our operations and projects in Malaysia and the wider region.
This role will be based out of our client's office in Cyberjaya, Malaysia.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide legal support across all business functions, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of agreements related to EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction), construction, and project development.
Advise on complex contractual and legal issues to minimize risks while enabling business growth.
Collaborate closely with project teams on data centre developments, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
Provide legal input on project financing, land acquisition, construction, and regulatory approvals.
Support commercial teams on colocation and data centre leasing agreements as needed, ensuring alignment with business objectives and legal standards.
Ensure compliance with Malaysian laws and regulations, including data privacy, construction laws, and corporate governance standards.
Identify and mitigate legal risks associated with business operations and projects.
Support the company's governance framework, including drafting and implementing policies, managing board resolutions, and maintaining statutory records.
Work with external counsel, contractors, and other stakeholders to resolve disputes, manage litigation risks, and drive favourable outcomes for the company.
Act as a legal business partner, providing proactive and practical advice to internal stakeholders.
Key Requirements:
Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience (PQE).
Prior experience in EPC, construction, or project development is essential.
Experience in colocation and data centre leasing agreements is a plus but not a must.
In-house legal experience in relevant industries (e.g.
Real Estate, Construction, Infrastructure Development; etc) is highly valued, though candidates from law firms with strong relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
Strong drafting and negotiation skills with attention to detail.
Excellent knowledge of Malaysian legal and regulatory frameworks.
Ability to work collaboratively across teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
