Position Overview
The Finance Manager is entrusted with ensuring the highest standards of financial stewardship and operational continuity within the Finance Department. This role is essential to upholding the university's fiscal integrity and optimizing financial processes. Operational support will be rendered on an as-needed basis, allowing the Finance Manager to primarily focus on strategic oversight and financial planning.
Primary Responsibilities
Cash Flow ManagementOversee cash flow activities with precision, closely monitoring the movement of funds to secure liquidity and financial stability.
Formulate detailed cash flow projections that anticipate funding requirements for both operational demands and strategic initiatives.
Deploy advanced cash management techniques to optimize working capital and manage short-term investments effectively.Financial Reporting, Planning, and AnalysisEnsure the accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with established accounting standards.
Develop in-depth financial analyses that identify key performance indicators and emerging trends, providing actionable insights for executive leadership.
Deliver comprehensive financial presentations to senior management, substantiating recommendations with data-driven insights.
Direct the budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes, working collaboratively with relevant departments to ensure alignment.
Actively monitor and address variances between actuals and budget forecasts, suggesting corrective actions to mitigate financial discrepancies.
Conduct scenario and sensitivity analyses to evaluate the potential impacts of various financial strategies, aligning with the university's strategic goals.
Implement a robust risk management framework, proactively identifying and evaluating financial and operational risks to the organization.
Develop and enforce risk mitigation strategies, ensuring adherence to rigorous policies and internal controls that protect the university's assets.Tax Compliance and Regulatory AdherenceInstitute stringent financial controls to safeguard against errors, fraud, and fiscal mismanagement.
Maintain strict compliance with all relevant tax laws, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements, ensuring the organization's operations adhere to best practices.
Facilitate smooth, efficient audit processes through effective collaboration with external auditors and tax advisors.
Keep abreast of regulatory and legislative changes to ensure continuous compliance with evolving tax and accounting standards.Process Improvement and Operational EfficiencyLead ongoing initiatives to enhance departmental controls, systems, and processes, promoting heightened accuracy and operational efficiency across the Finance Department.
Supervise key financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipts, general ledger, payroll, budgetary analysis, and capital asset reconciliations.
Define and track Accounting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to foster accountability and facilitate continuous improvement.Financial Analysis and Strategic SupportProduce in-depth financial reports and analyses, tailored to inform decision-making for both internal management and external stakeholders.
Serve as a strategic financial advisor to other departments, providing expert financial guidance in alignment with institutional goals.
Maintain a forward-looking perspective on industry trends and developments, positioning the university to capitalize on financial opportunities.Additional ResponsibilitiesUndertake additional duties as assigned by the Financial Controller, demonstrating flexibility, professionalism, and a commitment to advancing the university's objectives.Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years' experience in finance or accounting management, with a demonstrated record of leadership in a supervisory capacity.
Advanced proficiency in financial software systems (preferably SAP) and Microsoft Office applications.
Strong analytical skills with meticulous attention to accuracy and detail.
