The Commodity Manager is responsible for the development, execution, and management of commodity strategies along with the associated global sourcing for commodities, goods and services to support our manufacturing and business operations. This position supervises a team of buyers to identify, qualify and manage a global supply base to provide the team's assigned commodities.
ResponsibilitiesCreate and execute commodity strategies that best leverage supplier capabilities and the company's procurement spend to meet corporate objectives (support our near term and long term) of quality, cost, delivery and customer service.
Lead a commodity team to optimize and rationalize our supply chain, including the identification, qualification and management of new suppliers and related sourcing activities.
Lead the global procurement of materials, services, and freight to support the development, NPI and mass production requirements.
Develop strong relationships with suppliers that facilitate a deep understanding of their organizations and capabilities to support short term and long term business needs.
Liaise with product management and production planning to drive activities related to the timely and cost effective procurement of materials and services while meeting delivery and inventory targets.
Develop and implement policies, procedures, and systems to support procurement activities.
Coordinate and support on-site supplier visits, assessments, audits, and continuous improvement opportunities to optimize total cost and address issues with supplier performance.
Assess gaps in supplier performance and implement appropriate continuous improvement activities.
Collaborate with Manufacturing and Design Engineering to source, select, and establish new suppliers.
Negotiate and create global supply agreements with key partners to meet corporate objectives.
Manage and develop the commodity team to ensure objectives are met and team members are engaged and high performing.
Ensure KPIs and metrics are tracked and reported for the team's primary goals and objectives.
Generate various analyses and reports using ERP (SAP) and Excel.
Manage and support SAP modules that are related to Procurement.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve other relevant business objectives such as meeting annual inventory targets.

Demonstrates flexibility and the ability to multi-task and balance competing priorities.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrates in-depth understanding of the financial aspects of Supply Chain operations.
Ability to anticipate, recognize and solve complex supply problems.
Agility to work within broad guidelines and policies.
Education and/or Experience requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, engineering, business, or related field (Engineering strongly preferred).
Minimum 12 years' experience in manufacturing environment, including 10 years in purchasing or supply chain.
Minimum of 5 years of strategic supplier sourcing analyses and execution.
APICS or CPM Certification strongly preferred.
Strong working proficiency with Microsoft Office, including expert level functionality with Excel.
Minimum 3 years' experience working within and between ERP systems (SAP preferred).
Knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others.
Strong technical and business knowledge of, and experience in buying and sourcing in the segment served.
