Job Summary
The incumbent oversees the implementation of OSHE-related legislation within the MCMC, which is crucial in maintaining a safe working environment for the organization. This includes creating and implementing safety programs and initiatives, ensuring safety laws are followed, conducting Inspections and investigations into any OSHE dangers, and ensuring that pertinent statutes and regulations—such as OSHA 1994 and EQA 1974—are followed.
Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for implementing and maintaining a coordinated and systematic approach to manage and measure health and safety risks for MCMC employees. This includes ensuring that MCMC continuously improves its safety performance and complies with health and safety legislation and standards.
The incumbent should have strong communication skills, a deep understanding of OSHE laws and regulations, and experience in handling safety management issues. The incumbent should also be able to work collaboratively with other teams and departments to ensure that MCMC's policies and practices align with its values and goals.
Job Responsibilities: 1. Develop, implement and maintain comprehensive OSHE policies, strategies, programs and initiatives in line with applicable statutory requirements.
2. Ensure effective hazard and risk identification, assessment, and control through periodic safety audits and inspection of workplace.
3. Lead the development of safety culture within the organization.
4. Oversee the development and establishment of a systematic method for OSHE incident reporting and tracking, including analyzing the root cause of OSHE incidents and making appropriate recommendations on preventive measures to be taken to prevent a recurrence.
5. Analyze OSHE statistics and review OSHE effectiveness for improvement.
6. Design and deliver engaging training programs to educate employees on safety procedures, emergency response protocols, and environmental best practices.
7. Collaborate with other departments to integrate safety into all operations.
8. Oversee the OSHE department, including budget management and resource allocation.
9. Establish and maintain close rapport with DOSH, DOE, etc. to facilitate the management of OSHE issues at workplace.
Qualification & Work Experience 1. At least a Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety & Health/ Environmental or related disciplines with a minimum CGPA of 3.00 from a reputable University/College.
2. Certified and Registered OSHE practitioner with DOSH/DOE or other related institutions is an added advantage.
3. At least 8 to 10 years of working experience in a similar environment.
4. A flexible multi-tasker who thrives in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
5. Strong knowledge of applicable OSHE regulations, standards, and best practices.
