Job DescriptionThe Legal team is responsible for all legal and compliance aspects of Carousell's operations across all countries where Carousell has a local presence including Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam. This role will cover multiple markets.
We are seeking a motivated and commercially aware lawyer to join our legal team as a Junior Legal Counsel. This role presents an excellent opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and growing organisation by providing practical legal advice that empowers the business to achieve its goals.

Role:
Work closely with cross-functional teams to proactively identify and address legal issues, balancing risk mitigation with business enablement.
Provide timely and solution-oriented legal advice on a range of matters, including new product features, commercial contracts, compliance, and data privacy.
Develop a deep understanding of the company's business objectives and proactively identify legal opportunities to support growth.
Assist with drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements, ensuring alignment with business needs and legal requirements.
Support the development and implementation of compliance programs and training initiatives.
Provide support and assistance to maintain a high standard of corporate governance.
Provide support and assistance to maintain a high standard of data protection policies and practices.
Maintain and file corporate records, including resolutions, board of director changes, annual reports, etc.
Assist with various aspects of corporate secretarial work and oversee required regulatory filings.
QualificationsQualified lawyer with a strong academic background and 1 to 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in a reputable law firm or in-house legal department.
Experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating a range of general commercial contracts.
Strong legal research and analytical skills.
Business-Oriented: Interest in business operations and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Effective Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and explain legal concepts in plain language.
