Legal Counsel

Based in Johor, Malaysia, the Legal Counsel is a member of the GDS Legal and Compliance Team and has the following main responsibilities:To draft and review all types of agreements and legal documents (such as NDAs, services agreements, real estate leasing agreements, procurement agreements, commercial agreements) and participate in meetings and negotiations with internal and external partiesTo provide support in the implementation and oversight of the Company's compliance policies and programs, including providing compliance training, handling daily compliance procedures and processes, conducting investigations, conducting compliance due diligence in M&A transactions and commercial transactions, advising on compliance matters such as FCPA and anti-bribery/anti-corruption compliance, export control compliance, data privacy and cybersecurityTo work on corporate governance matters such as corporate secretarial, intellectual property protection and employment mattersTo liaise with third parties, governmental and regulatory authorities regarding compliance mattersTo manage dispute resolutions, follow up on internal and external investigations, liaise and coordinate with external law firms on any arising litigation management including court and arbitration processes.Requirements:Possesses an LLB degree or above from a reputable university in a common law jurisdictionQualified to practice law in Malaysia. Qualifications or experience practicing in other common law jurisdictions is a strong plusAt least 3 years of experience in a major international/Malaysian law firmPrior relevant experience in real estate and value-added telecommunications business preferredNative English speaker capable of speaking and reading Chinese and Malay, and command of basic MS Office software applications (e.g., Word, Excel and Powerpoint)Excellent English drafting skills and strong negotiation skillsMature, pragmatic, self-motivated, able to multiple-task and work independently and under pressureHardworking, proactive and detail- and solution-oriented with a 'can do' attitudeStrong interpersonal and communication skills, high integrity, business acumen and a team player
