Ability to render sound and competent advice; to review and comment on all/any legal issues/documents to be executed by the Bank/Group to safeguard the Bank's/Group's position and interests.
Ability to advise issues which have or potentially have a significant legal impact on the Bank/Group; to explore options and provide alternative solutions to issues including analysing problems from a risk-based approach, and ability to explain possible consequences arising from the issues identified.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Provide legal advice & opinion on litigation and dispute resolution to management in order that the Group's companies/business risk may be mitigated.
Ensure charge-outs of Legal Services are reported and allocated in accordance to Business Units.
Ensuring value for money and quality of legal services provided to the business units by Group Legal and external solicitors.
Manage the litigation cases and regulatory dispute matters and provide strategies to minimise risks to the Group and to ensure the Group's interests are protected.
Review and comment on all/any legal documents including Transaction Documents, Collaborations, Service Level Agreements, Joint Venture Agreements, etc. to ensure protection of Bank and/or Group's interest.
Provide legal advice on contemporaneous legal issues and queries raised.
Provide accurate and timely legal advice to the Bank's business units and branches.
Engage with business units in resolving legal issues and actively address legal concerns.
Liaise with external solicitors for the drafting of legal documents and opinions and circle the same internally for discussions.
Place importance on discipline, integrity, commitment, and teamwork while putting the Bank's interest above all at all times.
Early and value-added involvement with businesses in product development and business initiatives, based on product timelines.
Be proficient in applicable rules and procedures and ensure all staff are aware of applicable rules and procedures.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies and procedures.
Ensure compliance by having adequate control measures in place to monitor the changes or updates in rules and procedures.
Help manage litigation files and monitor performance of external lawyers.
Responsible for ensuring all work executed is in compliance with the targeted turnaround time.
Approx 7 - 9 years post-qualifying experience, concentrated practice in an area beneficial or relevant to companies, banking, finance, derivatives, trust, and litigation.
