The Legal Counsel – Regulatory & Compliance position requires broad experience in policy and compliance legal matters.
The Legal Counsel should also have interest in developing deep expertise in current and evolving regulatory matters.
Among other things, you will:
Understand, manage and drive compliance with a number of BCG internal policies and governance, external reporting and risk management processes, and counsel members of legal team and other functions.
Help identify, rollout, and drive regulatory compliance and compliance projects impacting BCG's global businesses from a strategic, tactical and operational perspective and collaborate to set strategy on same.
Serve as a critical member of BCG's growing Governance, Crisis, Compliance & Regulatory team across regulatory and policy topics, with a focus on trade restrictions, antitrust, insider trading, lobbying, know your client, conflict management, etc.
(prior experience in all areas not required, but substantive experience in some areas preferred).
Serve as a central point of contact for resources and materials, knowledge aggregation, horizon scanning, regulatory trends/developments and risk mitigation.
Identify risks and issues, suggest alternative solutions and risk management options both as part of discrete project escalations but also on larger projects.
Support training and continued development of knowledge and skills across both the global legal team and the business around compliance and regulatory issues.
Act as a partner on crisis management special projects.
Support team members on conflict management and know your client programs.
Conduct programmatic post hoc reviews of major projects to distill knowledge resources (e.g., future ways of working, target operating model, improvement plans).
Take ownership of discrete legal initiatives as they arise based upon changing business priorities.
Perform other duties as assigned or required.
Minimum Requirements:
Graduate degree (J.D.)
from an accredited law school and admitted to practice.
5-8 years experience with a top tier law firm or in a sophisticated in-house legal department.
Experience at a professional services firm dealing with regulatory, policy and compliance topics.
Proven ability to manage ongoing compliance with existing regulations and internal policies.
Flexibility and a willingness to work on a variety of topics and issues, both within and outside your defined mandate.
Excellent written and oral communication skills and English fluency.
A variety of cohorts and functions across the firm, including senior consulting and business services team leadership.
You will report into the corporate group within the Legal Team.
