Job DescriptionPOSITION GENERAL SUMMARY
Manage, plan, develop and control estate through best methods to ensure the company obtains maximum productivity from its estate in Sarawak region.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS
Perform, lead and supervise the development project of new planting in Sibu (252.16 ha), Miri (230.36 ha), Bintulu (409.62 ha) and Limbang (167.52 ha) and other areas in the future within the region, including land clearing leading to the planting of oil palm. Subsequently, maintain the immature palm up to maturity period according to industry practice.
Perform, lead or supervise the preparation for an area that has newly matured for harvesting in compliance with industry practices.
Perform, lead or supervise the inspection, grading, regulation and/or quality control standards for Fresh Fruits Bunches (FFB) and services or research/teaching programs.
Perform budgeting and maintain operating expenditure records related to the estate under his/her responsibility.
Train, instruct, and supervise subordinates to ensure satisfactory work progress in the estate.
Ensure the company complies with government regulations and health & safety standards.
Keep up to date knowledge of pests and diseases related to oil palm estate to ensure maximum productivity.
Recommend penalties or appropriate courses of action for violations of laws and regulations.
Establish good rapport with land authorities related to agriculture such as Malaysia Palm Oil Board, Jabatan Pertanian, and Natural Resources and Environment Board.
Maintain good relationships with local surrounding entities including airport staff, kampung folks, Custom and Immigration Dept, Police Dept, Land & Survey Dept, and Dept of Civil Aviation.
Verify contract work awarded to facilitate the payment process.
Ensure the estate is profitable and meets projected financial targets.
Manage plantation within the airport development area; fast decision-making and effective communication are essential.
SkillsStrong technical knowledge of plantation/landscape and related activities.
Knowledge in accounting, labour law, and immigration act.
Good analytical and planning skills, computing skills, able to work under pressure, a fast learner, and able to work in a team or individually.
Good communication and people management skills.
Possesses good organizational and time management skills.
Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia.
Relevant IndustriesEXTERNAL
Degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience.
EducationEXTERNAL
Degree preferably with specialization in Plantation Management, Agriculture/Engineering (Agriculture)/Environment Science/Forestry/Biodiversity.
Master's degree would be an added advantage.
