MEP Quantity Surveyor (Contract position & on-site): Those without MEP experience need NOT apply. The MEP Quantity Surveyor reports to the Project Manager/Commercial Manager. The MEP Quantity Surveyor manages all aspects of the contractual and financial side of construction projects and ensures the construction project is completed within its projected budget.
Responsibilities include but not limited to the following: Carefully examine tender documents, including MEP drawings, specifications, and bills of quantities.Understand the scope of MEP works and any specific requirements or standards that need to be met.Identify any discrepancies or missing information that may impact cost estimation or construction feasibility.Present cost estimates in a clear and organized manner for review and approval by project stakeholders.Analyze proposals based on cost, technical competence, compliance with specifications, and schedule.Provide recommendations and support to the project team in selecting suitable MEP subcontractors.Collaborate with MEP engineers and designers to optimize systems for cost-efficiency without sacrificing performance or quality.Conduct risk assessments specific to MEP installations, considering factors such as schedule delays, material availability, and technical challenges.Review detailed shop drawings and technical submittals prepared by MEP subcontractors.Coordinate with design consultants and subcontractors to resolve any discrepancies or issues promptly.Monitor changes to the scope of MEP works during construction, including design modifications or unforeseen conditions.Document changes thoroughly to maintain accurate records and ensure transparency in cost adjustments.Prepare interim payment applications based on completed work milestones and materials delivered onsite.Monitor actual costs incurred for MEP works, comparing them to budgeted amounts.Collaborate with the design team to implement cost-effective solutions that align with project objectives and client expectations.Other duties as and when assigned and subjected to amendment/changes with or without notification.Requirements: Candidate must possess at least a bachelor's degree or master's degree in quantity surveying, or equivalent.At least 5-8 year(s) of working experience in the related field is required for this position.Knowledge of and experience with all types of contracts including FIDIC, PAM etc. is preferredGood English written and oral communication skills.Must be willing to work fully on-site in Melaka.Willing to relocate if required.
