Position Summary The incumbent is responsible for the identification and evaluation of potential suppliers that meet the organization's standards of price, quality and delivery. Compile the short lists of suppliers and logistics service providers. Evaluate factors to determine overall cost effectiveness in procurement decision making. May negotiate terms, and manage supplier relationships.
The key accountabilities of the role encompasses the following areas:
Sourcing & Market Research Identify and evaluate potential supply of veterinary or food category products within or outside the country or selective area.Collect and validate the downstream business of food business, with the focus on appropriate segment.Build market intelligence of supply & demand (upstream and downstream).Connect to the principals and local data repositories for data collection and validation.Establish market benchmark price for sourced products.Provide market conditions, pricing, shortages or technical information to local team.Vendor Selection Support & Administration Support vendor selection and consolidation. Initiate search for new or alternative products & suppliers.Compile the supplier short list with product ranges.Compare and analyze quotes, negotiate prices and conditions.Participate in negotiations with suppliers.Develop supplier partnership.Make recommendations for improvement of process, contracts, suppliers, etc.Supply Process Be responsible for fulfilling the following supply activities/process :
- Identify the potential suppliers,
- Visit the supplier – company and plant,
- Fill in the supplier visit report,
- Take samples for quality evaluation,
- Request for quotation,
- Update information to the supplier database,
- Update supplier short list with market price indicators,
- Identify and evaluate the logistics infrastructure e.g. road, port and railway (in cooperation with Logistic team),
- Setup logistics network and define transport routes/modes,
- Conduct a weekly meeting with Sales and SCM teams,
QSHE Compliance Maintain safe working conditions and practices to achieve a zero (0) lost time injury record within the area of responsibility.Perform work duties in accordance with company procedures & policy.
Skills and Requirements Bachelor Degree. Preferably in Food Technology or related course.At least 3 years working experience in industrial business environment (B2B), sourcing and procuring raw materials for animal feed or food industry. Excellent command of English and Mandarin Language.Ready to travel occasionally within the country and overseas.Ability to work with multiple priorities and under pressure.Organized.Computer literate - MS Office – Words, Excel, Power Point, SAP (added advantage).Working knowledge of industry and has a good grasp of the market cover particularly for distribution business.Experience in business negotiations and contracting.Basic business analysis and acumen.Influencing/negotiating skills.Problem solving skill, determination to persist through challenges.
