Regional Case Tracker - Sarawak

Main Responsibilities Conduct activities related to JWM's wildlife crime case tracking effort in Malaysia, specifically in Sarawak. The activities include (but are not limited to):-Carrying out desktop research using a range of methods and sources of data related to wildlife crime and wildlife-related legislation in Sarawak that contributes to the holistic baseline information for Malaysia Assisting in thoroughly analysing court cases related to wildlife crime and cases prosecuted under the relevant statutes in Malaysia, specifically in Sarawak. Observing court proceedings in person in Sarawak and subsequently:Preparing a watching brief after each court visit.Briefing the Project Director after each court visit.Liaising with Sarawak Forestry Corporation to obtain court dates and further case information. Assist in producing reports and presentations to inform JWM's wildlife conservation strategies related to legislation across Malaysia.Coordinate the activities involving JWM's network of volunteers for Project Minerva in Sarawak.Ensure that all assigned activities are consistent with the schedule and that all outputs are delivered on time and at the desired quality.  Prior experience   Bachelor's Degree in Law, Criminology, Psychology, Conservation Science, or equivalent. 1-2 years of working experience is preferable.Familiarity with Malaysian government procedures and formalities is essential.Interest and basic knowledge of wildlife conservation, law, and policy related to wildlife in Malaysia is essential.Familiarity with MS Office software and collaborative virtual platforms (Google Suite and Dropbox) is essential.Ability to work under moderate pressure, with adaptability to last-minute changes and deadlines.Ability to work in a team.Ability to communicate well and professionally with stakeholders.Bahasa Malaysia language proficiency is required. Possessing a driving license (D) and a vehicle is essential.
