Job Responsibilities:To bring creativity and innovation to problem solving and idea generation in pursuing novel solutions to the H&P new product innovation program, developing polymers for our markets in line with our strategy on sustainability.
Serve as project leader for research in strategic areas and complex R&D projects; design and execute investigation plans around complex problems that involve more than one area of specialization; communicate all lab results and project reports to superiors; and work closely with Technical Service, Operations Improvement Team, Commercial, Production, Regulatory Affairs, and Marketing team meeting timelines and resource constraints.
Proactively identify new opportunities for technical/research projects, propose technical projects which will enhance Synthomer business performance, and lead the investigation and evaluation of the feasibility for potential products and process improvements, as well as write patents and develop IP strategies to protect our products and know-how.
Develop new products/formulations based on customer/market needs provided by SBU with defined projects, actively exploring chances of converting new technologies into commercial products and supporting current product troubleshooting (about 70%, 20%, & 10% of working time respectively).
Be aware of and adhere to the overall SHE & quality policies of the company.
Other Responsibilities:Identify, report on, and improve safety-related issues in the immediate working environment using available tools and systems.
Conduct competitors' patent monitoring in the Intellectual Property landscape.
Develop training programs for lab personnel by advising and consulting in areas of expertise; give technical direction for chemists who are doing work in related projects.
Minimum Requirements:PhD Degreein emulsion-related area withgood knowledge of polymer synthesis.
5 years' experiencein R&D industrial emulsion polymerization.
Ability to demonstrate creative independent research using current best practices, analytical tools, and external resources.
Publications and patentsrelated to thesynthesis of polymeris a plus.
Desirable Skill / Knowledge:Polymer science, materials science, emulsion polymerization, chemistry, IT skills.
Competency:Innovative mindset, creativity, out-of-the-box thinking, complex problem solving, curiosity, generates imaginative ideas and solutions.
