BASF has been operating in Malaysia for more than 30 years, through a number of wholly-owned companies and joint ventures in the country.BASF (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd was incorporated in 1989, and operates main office in Bandar Utama and a manufacturing plant in Pasir Gudang in Johor, as well as an operational site in Kulim, Kedah.BASF Asia-Pacific Service Centre Sdn Bhd began its operation in 2005.Located in Kuala Lumpur, the regional service hub provides functional services in the areas of finance, controlling, human resources, real estate and facilities management, communications, environment, health & safety, procurement, import-export order management and information services to BASF Group companies in 20 markets across Asia Pacific.BASF Services (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, established in 1997, provides infrastructure and utilities support services to BASF sites in Malaysia.BASF holds 60% of its joint venture BASF PETRONAS Chemicals Sdn Bhd, which operates a state-of-the-art Verbund production site in the Gebeng Industrial Zone, Pahang, and 50% of Toray BASF PBT Resin Sdn Bhd.BASF posted sales to customers in Malaysia of approximately €344 million in 2023 and had 2,460 employees as of the end of the year.Further information is available on .Objectives of the position: As a member of a team, contribute to the development of the business and marketing strategy for the Asia Pacific region.Focus on delivering projects, product launches and achieving targets for specific segments or sub-regions to increase market share and reach strategic milestones.Take the lead in regional Technical Service and Applications Development for Architectural Coatings.Offer technical expertise for Architectural Coatings in Asia Pacific, serving as the regional specialist for global product development collaboration.Main Tasks: Lead the regional technical service labs securing cross-regional transfer of application knowledge and establish a highly skilled technical team with strong application expertise.Develop new product by formulation know-how for new applications and solution for new applications together Segment Business Managers.Coordinating technical activities through regular exchange and sharing within technical and production community in AP to optimize the resources.Coordinate application tests for product transfer.Ensure healthy innovation pipeline to promote business growth.Participate and provide expertise in Asia Pacific product development and coordinate R&D feedback.Support preparation of samples and promotional material together with Segment Business Managers.Solve application problems from customer through formulation adjustment.Secure the transfer of customer requests into product performance improvement.Understand and apply the customer test methods in respective labs.Key Account support to KAM and local sales (together with technical service) to increase penetration via appropriate strategies.Support technical training to sales and customers together with Segment Business Managers.Identify lab technicians upskilling needs and develop succession plans.Provide technical support to Asia Pacific Marketing initiatives: Competitor benchmarking and BASF positioning Development of Segment Strategies Leadership of regional technically related projects Drive via the regional technical team: Global/local know-how transfer Define market needs and opportunities.Act as a technical peer for Key Account Technical Leaders Requirements: Education: Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or above Working Experience: Minimum 10 years technical experience in architectural coating related field Technical & Professional Knowledge: Necessary knowledge in Dispersions, paint industry Location preference by priority : Indonesia/Malaysia/Thailand
