SENIOR STAFF NURSE / STAFF NURSE (NURSERY / NICU)Job Description:
The Staff Nurse specializing in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to critically ill newborns, including premature and full-term infants.
This role involves monitoring, treating, and supporting neonates with complex medical needs while collaborating closely with families and the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Responsibilities:
Deliver specialized care for neonates requiring intensive monitoring and treatment.
Operate and maintain advanced medical equipment such as incubators, ventilators, and infusion pumps.
Assess, monitor, and document neonates' vital signs, growth, and developmental progress.
Provide resuscitation and stabilization for newborns in critical condition.
Administer medications, intravenous fluids, and nutrition according to physician orders.
Anticipate and respond effectively to emergencies and changes in patients' conditions.
Act as a primary liaison for parents and families, offering emotional support and guidance.
Educate families on neonatal care, feeding, and developmental milestones.
Involve families in care plans and promote bonding through skin-to-skin contact and other practices.
Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, including neonatologists, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare providers.
Participate in care planning, case reviews, and discharge planning to ensure seamless transitions.
Maintain accurate and detailed medical records.
Ensure adherence to hospital policies, infection control standards, and neonatal care protocols.
Stay updated on advancements in neonatal care through continued education and training.
Participate in NICU quality improvement initiatives and staff education sessions.
Qualifications:
Registered Nurse (RN) license in Malaysia
Post Basic with Neonatal Care or related is preferable
Proven experience as a Staff Nurse with more than 2 years experience
Strong clinical skills and knowledge of medical procedures and protocols
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards patients
