Scope of Position:Oversees and manages a team of Air Import Operations Agents.
Ensures that the team executes proper and timely movement of freight and information, while complying with internal and external requirements and providing exceptional operational customer service within the Air Import department.Major Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for the Air Import operational activities for On-Time On Budget & Zero Defect deliveryResponsible for the Air Import operations team's work production and work quality.
Coach, direct, lead and control AI team members as needed.Handles AI employee related issues (resource planning, people performance, performance and productivity).
Counsels and coaches AI employees where required to improve team dynamics.Job files from A to Z for files handled – as team leader, the no.
of files will be fewer than AI Ops Agents to allow sufficient capacity to lead the team.Shipment Tracking and Tracing, provides Customers with timely status updatesPrepare, handle and process import documentation- commercial documents, customs/regulatory documents, special documentation such as ICDV forms, ATA Carnet etc.Accurate and timely data entry into our operating system, especially closing of arrival and delivery stops.Ensures timely clearance of shipment from the cargo terminalCommunicate effectively with customers, vendors, other CH Robinson offices and agents worldwide, and co-workers through high volume of email, phone, instant message, and in personPrepare reports as requiredAccurate and timely billing to customer.
Ensures COD are collected upon or prior to delivery.Contribute to maintaining strong vendor relationships- airlines, trucking companies, and othersMaintain compliance standards at all times- including internal policies and procedures, external government regulations, and customer requirements.Meet key department performance indicators to support branch product, and company goals.Desire to understand overall department and Company process flow and constantly seek opportunities for improved efficiency.Escalation of problems to Management when necessaryHandle task and assignments as delegated by SupervisorPersonal Development:Attend training classes when required.Complete mandatory training when required.Qualifications, Experience and Education RequirementsDiploma preferred, however equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.Effective interpersonal skills- including proven abilities to listen, comprehend, and to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.Strong organizational and prioritization skills are critical.Proficient computer skills- solid data entry with high accuracy rate, email, internet, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.Strong knowledge and experience is declaring all types of Customs permitsExperience in ICDV, ATA Carnet, import licensingA team player, understands team dynamics and experience in team leadingDesire for a career in Airfreight/Forwarding/Logistics.Disclaimer:This job description is intended to generally describe the nature and level of work to be performed by employees in this position.
