Providing advanced technical guidance and serving as a lead technical subject matter expert on Oracle database technologies and tools, including Oracle Database, Oracle RAC, Oracle Grid Infrastructure, Oracle ASM, Oracle Enterprise Manager, etc.
Designing, implementing, and managing the organization's database infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance.
Collaborating with the engineering and information security teams to identify and resolve complex technical issues related to the database environment.
Developing and implementing database security controls, policies, and procedures to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data, utilizing tools such as Oracle Data Guard, Oracle Advanced Security, etc.
Defining and maintaining operational support standards for the database environment and managing integrated operations center skilled technicians to perform Level 1, 2, and 3 technology support.
Participating in capacity planning and forecasting to ensure that the database infrastructure can meet the demands of the organization, utilizing tools such as Oracle Cloud Control, Oracle Performance Tuning Advisor, and Analytics tools.
Documenting technical procedures, processes, and best practices to support the database environment and promote knowledge transfer within the team.
Providing technical training and mentoring to junior team members, fostering their professional growth and development.
Staying current with new technologies and industry trends in the database field, and continuously improving the organization's database infrastructure.
Implementing ITIL processes related to the database environment, including incident management, problem management, change management, and configuration management.
Coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, including vendors and service providers, to resolve technical issues and ensure the smooth operation of the database environment.
Developing and maintaining disaster recovery plans and testing them regularly to ensure the organization's ability to recover from disruptive events.
Participating in project planning and execution, and contributing to the development of project plans, budgets, and schedules.
Participating in performance tuning activities, utilizing tools such as Oracle Tuning Pack, Oracle Diagnostics Pack, and Query Optimizer.
Performing database upgrades and migrations, including testing and validation of new releases and patches.
Monitoring the database environment and proactively identifying performance bottlenecks and potential issues, and taking corrective action to resolve them.
Managing database backup and recovery operations, including the development and testing of backup and recovery procedures and policies.
Implementing and enforcing database security policies, procedures, and controls, to ensure the protection of sensitive data and compliance with relevant regulations.
Developing and maintaining documentation on the database environment, including configuration documents, hardware and software inventories, and network diagrams.
Mentoring and coaching junior team members, fostering their professional growth and development.
Collaborating with the information security team to implement and maintain database security controls, policies, and procedures.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is required.
10+ years of build and manage hands-on working experience on Oracle database technologies, including experience with Oracle Database, Oracle RAC, Oracle Grid Infrastructure, Oracle ASM, Oracle Enterprise Manager.
Minimum 8+ years experience working on Database infrastructure.
Strong understanding of database architecture, design, and administration.
Extensive experience with database high availability, security, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, and performance tuning.
Strong knowledge of ITIL processes and experience implementing them in a database environment.
Experience leading technical teams, mentoring junior team members, and developing staff skills.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex technical issues.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience with cloud database technologies, including Oracle Autonomous Database, Microsoft Azure SQL Database, IBM Cloudant is a plus.
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and on-call rotation.Desirable Qualifications and Skills:Oracle certification (OCP, OCE, etc.) is preferred.
Experience with database automation and scripting (e.g. SQL, Python, Shell, etc.).
Strong understanding of database security concepts and best practices, including experience with database firewalls and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
Multi-lingual database administration (such as MS SQL Server, Sybase, DB2, Informix & Netezza, PostgreSQL) will be advantageous.
Experience with database performance tuning, including experience with database profiling and benchmarking.
Familiarity with containerization technologies, such as Docker, and orchestration platforms, such as Kubernetes.
Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements, including experience with data privacy regulations such as PCI and HIPAA.
Experience with database migrations and upgrades, including experience with database replication and data warehousing.Location:Kuala Lumpur
