Job DescriptionWe are looking for a highly driven and motivated Head of Public Affairs & Public Relations to join our team in Malaysia, overseeing a key advocacy and reputation management function.
Well-versed in stakeholder engagement and possessing a strong network of external stakeholders including but not limited to the government, media, academia, and business sectors, this individual will play a crucial role in shaping the operating environment for foodpanda in Malaysia.
Public Affairs/Government Relations: Lead foodpanda's public policy strategies and advocacy efforts to address public policy challenges and meet business objectives.
Topics include the gig economy, halal certification and compliance, competition, consumer protection, data protection/fraud, sustainability, and more.
Maintain and expand foodpanda's network of stakeholders across the Federal, State, and Local Councils; government agencies; international and regional organisations; academia; non-profit/non-government sectors; industry; and the media.Engage with the abovementioned stakeholders to achieve policy advocacy goals, support business objectives, and boost reputation.
This includes the creation of supporting collaterals in collaboration with various internal stakeholders.Establish and drive partnerships with external stakeholders, collaborating across functions to advance foodpanda's business, reputational, and public affairs objectives.Provide crisis management counsel, and lead issue management and responses in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.Public Relations:Develop foodpanda Malaysia's public relations strategy and uphold a positive brand reputation across all stakeholder groups.Build relationships with key tier 1 media (broadcast, tech, lifestyle, and trade) to ensure a consistent narrative is being communicated externally.
Lead proactive storytelling, media pitches and campaigns to secure positive media placements focusing on foodpanda Malaysia's mission.Oversee and manage agencies to ensure alignment with business goals, while monitoring and measuring the effectiveness of communication strategies, adjusting as needed.QualificationsAt least 10 years of demonstrated experience in leading public affairs/government relations and communications work, engaging a wide range of external stakeholders.
A strong network of middle-to-senior government officials at the federal, state and local councils, and in-depth knowledge about government guidelines, processes and policies.A strong network of journalists focused on the tech and startup space at major international business and tech media, with a keen understanding of media and the news cycle with proven success in achieving coverage across different media segments.Demonstrated experience driving partnerships and activations with external partners.Ability to exercise strong judgement, possess good problem-solving skills, and ability to collaborate with functional teams in a dynamic environment.Demonstrated experience providing counsel to and collaborating closely with senior management and business functions to achieve the effective implementation of public policy and PR campaigns, driving brand awareness and reputation management.A good degree from a reputable institution.A concise and clear communicator with written and oral communication skills in English; additional languages are a plus.
