IPZ Executive (Account Handler - Liability and Marine)
Job SummaryTo provide underwriting guidance and support to foreign Property Casualty Underwriters in the correct interpretation & application of country/regional underwriting practices and procedures.Job Accountabilities - Key AccountabilitiesAdvise on wording and coverage thereby facilitating application of best practice and appropriate management of any risks associated with writing country/regional covers under foreign global programs.Seek advice and agreement where appropriate from the Receive underwriter and/or Technical Underwriting on more complex and specific coverage requests received prior to service delivery.Take responsibility for the issuance of local policies, ensuring you correctly and closely follow instructions received from the foreign Service Specialist.Complete in accordance with internal and external guidelines, stipulated time frames and quality thresholds.Manage and resolve issues that arise during the insurance period related to local coverage requirements, policy issuance, premium payment, claims flow, and program reporting.Recognize potential cross-sell opportunities.
Generate interest with intermediaries and customers, actively ensuring that interested parties are directed to the appropriate Underwriting teams.Identify areas in need of continuous improvement and suggest solutions to these areas.Act as the local contact person for the customers and brokers in respect of services provided by the worldwide network.
Work in close association with Service Specialists & Underwriters to deliver according to customer expectations.Act as a communication channel between the producing country and partner country, including partner relationship management and due diligence where applicable.Provide strong technical guidance and support relative to local Underwriting philosophy and strategy.Maintain close contact with Technical Underwriting and refer any exceptional requests with recommendations.Implement and administer international received policies within expected quality & timeline requirements.Interpret instructions, checking for accuracy and correctness, performing quality checks as appropriate.Ensure the policy document, invoice, and binder are accurate and in line with both Property Casualty and domestic underwriting & financial principles.Update local systems maintaining data quality and integrity.Receive claims information, manage data entry, and coordinate among all relevant parties as per the assigned process/claims protocol.
Maintain, manage, and control Policy, Premium, and Claims data in global administration tools and ensure data quality.Attend internal and external meetings and monitor service relevant business decisions made at meetings to ensure each decision is acted upon in accordance with the outcome of the meeting.Work independently to handle the daily work and tasks of a Receive contract with medium complexity, with only occasional support from a more senior colleague and/or underwriter.Participate in LEAN initiatives such as Kaizen events and continuous improvement measurements.Job Qualifications
Required:Bachelor's Degree and 2 or more years of experience in the Underwriting area or other insurance areaORHigh School Diploma or Equivalent and 4 or more years of experience in the Underwriting area or other insurance areaPreferred:Knowledge of the US insurance industry and the legal and regulatory environmentStrong knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local filing regulations, and guidelinesStrong negotiation and sales skillsFluent in language/s other than EnglishStrong verbal and written communication skillsStrong relationship building skillsNeeds analysis experienceMicrosoft Office skillsBusiness AccountabilitiesAllocate work and provide coaching and guidance to a team to enable the effective delivery of underwriting decisions.Carry out tasks, such as the preparation of documentation, to support the implementation of short-term defined scope projects to time and quality standards.Identify and comply with the main principles relevant to legal and regulatory controls that govern standard work practices.Collect evidence from well-established sources and deliver accurate decisions to customers and facilitate decision making on wider customer issues.Monitor underwriting processes in order to provide status updates and identify opportunities for improvement.Provide clear explanations for underwriting decisions, sharing relevant technical information to build and maintain relationships with customers/distributors.Resolve operational day-to-day problems referred from other functions of the business, ensuring an efficient and high-quality service is extended to all distributors and customers.You are the heart & soul of Zurich!At Zurich, we like to think outside the box and challenge the status quo.
