Job Responsibilities
Perform leadership duties as expected of a Legal Counsel.
Firm Internal Matters – provide ad-hoc legal advice to the Firm on Firm-related matters.
Coordinate advice from external counsel on specialist matters relating to the Firm.
Firm Buyside and Sellside Mandates – ability to lead on legal execution on buyside and sellside investment mandates.
Lead on structuring of Firm's private buyside investments.
Client Service Mandates – general provision of Family Office services and administration to HNWIs.
Coordinate with the client's legal team and external counsel.
Liaise with clients and all other legal/professional advisors.
Advisory support on estate planning.
General Legal Oversight – oversee the NDA process, creation of agreement templates and corporate secretarial duties.
Provide detailed support and functionality in legal matters that may be applicable to the Firm including the development and monitoring of Legal (and where relevant, compliance) procedures for the Firm to ensure compliance with current legislation.
Regulatory Compliance – knowledge of regulatory compliance relating to financial services an advantage (Securities Commission Malaysia, Monetary Authority of Singapore or Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) UK.
All other ad-hoc legal duties.
Skills and Requirements
Degree holder, preferably in Law from a reputable establishment.
Qualified solicitor with minimum of 5 years' legal practice experience (excluding internships etc) at a leading law firm, ideally with corporate M&A and/or private equity exposure.
Proven track record in building and managing high-performing teams.
Sound knowledge of legal and financial regulations, alongside compliance obligations.
Knowledge of the fiduciary duties of Directors and corporate governance requirements.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
International exposure desired but not a must.
Exceptional leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
Superb English, proof-reading skills, exceptional attention to detail whilst always maintaining the highest standards.
Proven ability of providing seamless support under pressure with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to demonstrate initiative, and to work with a high degree of autonomy and independence.
Proactivity: can multi-task, plan, prioritise and organise.
Able to juggle a varied workload, meet deadlines, and plan ahead.
Adaptable to change.
Desire to work in a collegiate and dynamic team, to be a true team player.
Collaborative with a can-do mindset.
