The University of Southampton Malaysia is seeking to recruit a dynamic Maintenance and Facility Technician to be based in Iskandar Puteri, Johor Bahru.
ResponsibilitiesConduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems to ensure timely maintenance or repairs.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve technical issues with equipment and machinery.
Maintain records of all maintenance and repair activities.
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the facility, ensuring all systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing) are functioning efficiently.
Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialised repair or maintenance work as required.
Ensure facilities are clean, safe, and well-maintained.
Serve as the on-site Safety and Health Coordinator (SHC), ensuring compliance with Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) regulations and guidelines, and represent the facilities department in the SHE Committee.
Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and inspections to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
Develop and implement safety policies and procedures to minimise workplace hazards and promote a safe working environment.
Develop and implement emergency response plans for the facility.
Coordinate with emergency services and perform drills to ensure readiness in case of a fire, evacuation, or other emergencies.
Maintain accurate records and documentation related to maintenance schedules, repairs, inspections, and safety procedures.
Prepare reports for management, providing updates on maintenance activities, safety incidents, and compliance status.
Assist the wider ICT & Facilities team in any and all activities as necessary to ensure that the objectives of the team are met.
Any other duties as allocated by the line manager following consultation with the post holder.
RequirementsMinimum diploma in Mechanical/Electrical or equivalent.
At least 5 years of relevant work experience in maintenance and facilities management, with expertise in safety and health.
Proficiency in troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, knowledge of OSHA regulations, and technical skills in handling facility equipment and systems.
Preferably certified as a Safety and Health Coordinator/Officer.
Willing to work occasionally evenings and weekends to assist with events or other UoSM activities.#J-18808-Ljbffr
