We are looking for a talent who commits to contribute his/her talent to the team and develop his/her career together with Western Digital. Reporting to COE Director, this role will manage the COE intercompany and consolidation team to drive the close and consolidation process with a continued focus on improvement to achieve best-in-class results.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Engage in and oversee consolidation activities as part of the monthly close, including intercompany reconciliation, elimination, translation and reporting.
Seek opportunities to streamline and shorten the close and reporting cycle, including identifying and recommending process and system enhancements to improve efficiency and effectiveness of close and consolidation activities while maintaining effective internal controls.
Review journal entries and various account reconciliations to facilitate the month-end closing process.
Deliver training and provide accounting guidance to global Western Digital entities on the intercompany process.
Perform ad hoc technical accounting research and evaluation of non-recurring accounting transactions, including having a thorough understanding of associated legal documents, documentation of accounting conclusions, as needed, and understanding proposed journal entries for posting in the GL.
Support cross-functional teams including revenue, tax, and cost accounting with journal entry posting and account analyses.
Support the Sarbanes-Oxley documentation for key Balance Sheet and Income Statement accounts and relevant control activities.
Proactively identify issues and assist in optimizing systems, upgrades, and automation of accounting processes.
Assist with quarterly reviews and annual audits conducted by internal and external auditors.
Preparation of ad-hoc analyses and special projects as requested.
QualificationsRequired:
Bachelor Degree in Finance/Accounting.
8+ years of demonstrated success in accounting roles of increasing responsibility, preferably a mix of both public accounting firm and corporate accounting roles within a publicly traded company.
Experience working with global financial systems, preferably Oracle and SAP.
Demonstrated experience with process and system automation.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and be a good team player to solve problems and work with colleagues globally.
Must have the ability to execute multiple tasks, while remaining detail-oriented with a high commitment to quality, and able to adhere to strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Previous experience managing a team with a commitment to creating an environment that fosters career growth and development for the team.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to work collaboratively and build strong relationships across the organization.
Passion for managing implementation of technology and executing process improvements.
Preferred:
Strong knowledge of US GAAP, SEC Regulations and understanding of SOX 404(b) compliance.
Skills:
A professional certification holder (such as CPA, ACCA, etc.) is a plus.
