The opportunity to improve health on a global scale stands before us.Functional DescriptionThe Security Manager manages the Security Program, including administrative and budget operations, with a focus on organizing and delegating to the team in order to achieve objectives.
The majority of time spent (50% or more) is achieving organizational objectives through the coordinated achievements of subordinate staff.Establishes departmental goals and objectives, functions with autonomy.
Manages the accountability and stewardship of human, financial, and physical resources in compliance with departmental and organizational goals and objectives.
Ensures subordinate supervisors adhere to defined internal controls.
Manages systems and procedures to protect departmental assets.
Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesOversees the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Security Program, ensuring the program is aligned with company priorities and meets departmental goals.Ensures the Security Command Center alarms, video surveillance, communications devices and other pertinent security equipment is adequate, and functional and the center is appropriately staffed at all times.Establishes and maintains site procedures and instructions outlining the roles and responsibilities for maintaining a safe and secure workplace and facility.Ensures the facility maintains a security force that is adequate to maintain a minimum of security protection throughout the facility at all times.Supervises and trains Security Supervisors and other personnel assigned to protective service duties, as necessary.Establishes and maintains a consistent process to conduct and document investigations to their conclusion for security related incidents occurring on site.Establishes emergency operations procedures to engage and support emergency operations (earthquake, fire, workplace violence, threats of violence, trespassing, etc.
)Establishes site visitation restrictions to prevent unauthorized personnel or those considered to be threatening or disruptive, onto the campus.
)Defines processes and policies for security guards regarding protecting valuable or hazardous property, maintaining crowds at Dexcom projects and events, entry to restricted areas, inspecting areas for security risks, and controlling safety rule infractions.Oversees the Security Program information collection and evaluation system and coordinates reporting program results to Human Resources, EHS, Quality Improvement and Facilities Management as required.Represents Dexcom as a local law enforcement liaison/designated individual to communicate directly with local law enforcement regarding incidents and events, weather, emergencies, or routinely reports, as required to local city and county officials, organizations, and related safety and security task forces as required.Ensures full compliance with all regional, state and federal regulating agencies.Establishes and maintains a collaborative relationship with adjacent facilities to interact in the event of an incident or other emergency.Has the authority and responsibility to intervene and make immediate decisions in Dexcom campus operations whenever conditions pose an immediate threat to life or health, or to property owned or used/occupied by Dexcom personnel.Executes recruiting, hiring, and on-boarding for security staff, ensuring that new hires meet security standards.
Determines salary actions, promotions and terminations.
Conducts necessary personnel actions for assigned staff, including disciplinary actions.
Verifies accuracy of job descriptions and updates as needed.Implements employee evaluation processes that meet organization standards.
Evaluates assigned staff and defines development goals.Ensures all members of the Security team maintain awareness of the typical hazards of the workplace as well as the special hazards that may be encountered at Dexcom, such as biohazards, radiation, chemicals, etc.
Follows established procedures for dealing with such potential hazards.Liaisons with Security Systems vendors to ensure that all systems function without interruption.Conducts daily reviews of Daily Activity Reports and provides status or other reports as requested.Required QualificationsFEMA Training Certificates (or equivalent):Introduction to Incident Command SystemWorkplace Security AwarenessBachelor's degree in related areas and/or equivalent combination of experience and training.Seven or more years of relevant experience and knowledge of regulations regarding hazardous materials, fire codes, building codes and all other relevant safety requirements.
Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply regulations as issues arise.Can create, redline and/or improve SOPs, work instructions and other documents.Experienced in training and supervising all aspects of security functions.
Ability to provide support, direction, and coaching to subordinate employees in the areas of training, disciplinary action, problem resolution, and work delegation.Ability to understand and apply company and departmental policies and procedures.Knowledge of Dexcom, HR, EHS and Facilities policies and procedures related to the position.Physical ability to perform tasks assigned to job function.
Ability to move through limited access spaces and cover distances on foot to widely separated work sites.Has substantial knowledge and understanding of surveillance systems and equipment.Knowledge of tests performed for Security Access systems with ability to determine corrective or maintenance needs and effectively communicate them to System Administrator.Able to perform trend analysis and recommend corrective action.Able to communicate well in English and Malay.
