POSITION SUMMARY: This position reports directly to the Manager Radiology: The imaging Sonographer uses real-time evidence-based using Ultrasound machine to provide accurate diagnostic and image acquisition thus assist Radiologist to report.
The Sonographers knowledgeable in Ultrasound equipment, physical anatomy, psychological, pathology, and abnormality (disease) of patients when acquired images.
Capable to do Scanning ultrasound for Doppler, Musculoskeletal (MSK), Full Scan for Obstetric case and General radiology scan.
Be accountable for quality of the service provided, including customer service and technical aspect.
Directly involve in intervention procedures to assist radiologist in Ultrasound procedure in a variety of hospital departments, including operation theatre (OT), accident and emergency (A&E) and at wards.
This position also requires individuals who are not only friendly and helpful to patients, physicians and staff, but also have a high degree of professionalism, accuracy and timeliness.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Prepared and organize the Ultrasound Room every morning prior to procedure and afternoon after procedure.Inform and explain to patient regard to the procedure which they will undergo in Imaging Department including call-in patient to the examination room.Reviews and orders the proper procedure and reporting to ensure correct patient, correct site and correct procedure prior the scanning.Reviews the patient noted to understand the procedure request and if involve procedure and complication involves, checks for informed consent.Ensures safety in equipment management through daily checklist processes.Ensure correct patient is selected from the worklist as the images will be stored in the PACS.Full filled Ultrasound schedule with at least 15 cases on weekday and 10 cases on Saturday.Acts as on behalf of radiologists, to perform Ultrasound procedure for real-time scanning and provide images accurately and complete for reporting.Ensure all patients being inform and fulfilled pre-preparation for Ultrasound procedure before acquired the images thus provide the good images quality and patient well prepared.Ensure all procedure is printed in paper or publish in CD as patient copied and send to PACS. Involved in the department's Quality Improvement Activities (QIA).Involved in the department's 5S to ensure patient safety and comfort in imaging department.Assists in educational programs; CME is required of full filled 30 hours.Assists in Ultrasound appointment by working closely with imaging staff to ensure all patient are able to undergo all screening procedure in the same sitting thus improve our procedure workflow. For procedure involve in ultrasound, do inform Radiologist for patient preparation.Establishes, monitor and record the result and inventory of Ultrasound room supplies, disposable item etc. Thereby maintaining facility to fully function approved levels.To take reasonable care at workplace for the safety of oneself, others and to comply with any instruction or measure on occupational safety, health and environment as required. Report all accidents / incidents and hazard to the superior and complete the Incident Report Form for each accident / incident.To perform other related duties as assigned.
