The Tax Manager is responsible for managing the Company's tax compliance, tax planning, and tax risk management. This role ensures that the Company complies with all relevant tax laws and regulations while optimizing the Company's tax position.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Tax ComplianceEnsure timely and accurate filing of all corporate tax returns, including income tax, GST/SST, withholding tax, and other relevant tax obligations.
Manage tax audits and correspond with tax authorities on tax-related matters.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax laws and regulations and ensure compliance with changes.Tax PlanningDevelop and implement tax strategies to minimize the Company's tax liabilities.
Advise on the tax implications of business transactions, mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic decisions.
Optimize tax efficiencies and ensure effective tax planning across all business units.
Identify and mitigate tax risks through effective tax risk management processes.
Conduct regular tax risk assessments and implement appropriate controls.
Maintain proper documentation to support tax positions and decisions.Reporting and DocumentationPrepare and review tax provisions for financial statements and ensure accurate tax reporting.
Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping of all tax-related matters.
Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on tax matters and potential risks.Stakeholder EngagementAct as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders on tax-related issues.
Liaise with tax advisors, auditors, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance and effective tax management.
Collaborate with other departments to provide tax advice and support business initiatives.Training and DevelopmentProvide training and guidance to finance and accounting teams on tax-related matters.
Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in tax management.
Promote a culture of tax awareness and compliance within the organization.
Continuously seek opportunities to improve tax processes and systems.
Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance tax efficiency.
Lead and support tax-related projects and initiatives.Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy/Finance, Taxation, or related. Candidates with professional qualifications such as CPA, ACCA, CTIM are a bonus.
At least 8 years of working experience in tax management, preferably within the plantation or agriculture sector. Proven experience in tax planning, compliance, and risk management.
Good written and communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
In-depth knowledge of Malaysian tax laws and regulations.
Proficiency in tax software (if any) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong interpersonal skills, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Able to work under pressure and capable of meeting tight deadlines.
