Description
**Tax Reporting and Compliance:** Oversee and approve tax accounting and reporting packages on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis, including Corporate Income Tax and deferred tax, in line with local and HQ requirements. Ensure accurate tax disclosures in statutory reports.
**Submission and Regulatory Compliance:** Manage the submission of Corporate Income Tax, Withholding Tax, Indirect Tax, Transfer Pricing, and other statutory returns to tax authorities.
**External and Internal Tax Queries:** Address and lead responses to tax queries and audits from tax authorities, and manage tax-related inquiries from business units, particularly concerning cross-border transactions, tax clauses in contracts, and withholding tax.
**Transfer Pricing and Advisory:** Provide guidance on Transfer Pricing for inter-company transactions and assist the Global Tax Department with BEPS reporting and other international tax obligations.
**Ad-Hoc Tax Projects:** Lead various tax advisory and projects, including process improvements, mergers and acquisitions, restructuring, implementation of new tax laws, and digitalization/automation of tax compliance processes.
**Risk Management and Tax Strategy:** Identify tax risks and opportunities, develop and implement tax planning strategies, and ensure compliance with tax regulations through effective processes and controls.
**Stakeholder Engagement:** Act as the main contact for all Malaysia tax matters, actively engaging with stakeholders such as CFOs, shared services, accounting, IT, and business controllers, and keeping them updated on local tax regulations and changes.
Profile
**Educational Background:** Bachelor's degree in Tax, Accountancy, or a related professional qualification.
**Work Experience:** A minimum of 8 years of professional tax experience, including at least 3 years in a managerial role, ideally within a Big 4 firm or a multinational corporation (MNC).
**Tax and Financial Expertise:** In-depth knowledge of Malaysia's corporate tax, indirect taxes, transfer pricing regulations, and a thorough understanding of accounting principles and Financial Reporting Standards.
**Technical Skills:** Proficient in SAP and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
**Communication Skills:** Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a range of stakeholders.
**Analytical and Organizational Abilities:** Demonstrates initiative, independence, and a commitment to continuous process improvement, with exceptional analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail.
