Position:Tactical Buyer

The Tactical Buyer is responsible for all purchases of an assigned material (sub)group product and will be reporting to the Purchasing Manager. The lowest possible purchase prices are ensured by the Tactical Buyer through monitoring market circumstances and price developments while strengthening quality service and our supply via vendor risk management. The Tactical Buyer plans and executes sourcing strategies in accordance with predefined targets from management, e.g., Group purchasing policy, targets on sustainability, etc.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform efficient strategic sourcing via implementing sourcing procedures and partnering with internal stakeholders to identify sourcing needs in order to manage the risk and optimize the value and resilience of materials and services sourcing.
Suggest methods and risk minimizing techniques to decrease expenditure through cost analysis and calculation of procurement costs.
Establish supplier relationship management processes and continuous improvement projects.
Negotiate contracts and coordinate supplier integration plans with internal customers.
Conduct research and anticipate potential shifts of negotiation power from suppliers.
Monitor market dynamics and identify marketplace trends with a possible impact on the availability of materials or services and/or pricing.
Act as a buddy for the purchasing assistant (e.g., problem-solving, understanding and application of procedures, etc.).
Provide support for vendor complaints and negotiate financial compensations to improve quality performance.
Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders on matters related to materials, services, and other improvement projects.
Job Requirements:
Education & Experience:Bachelor's degree or diploma in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or any related field.
Minimum 5 years of sourcing experience with 10 years working experience in a manufacturing environment.Behavioral Skills:Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Malaysian and English.
Good interpersonal skills and relationship-building with internal stakeholders.
Positive attitude with an ability to cooperate as a team player to work efficiently together in order to achieve common goals.
Able to work independently with limited guidance.
Vast project management and leadership skills.
Able to form sound judgments.
Good negotiation skills.
Building ethical supplier network relationships.Technical Skills:Strong in Microsoft Office applications, especially in MS Excel.
Good negotiation skills.
SAP knowledge is an added advantage.
Costing knowledge (TCO, contract & volume basis).
